Country reported: Brazil

The Manaus pterosaur was a cryptid seen once, in the Brazilian Amazon city of Manaus, in 1947.[1][2]

The Manaus pterosaur was described as a flying animal with wings resembling brown leather. It seemed to lack feathers.[1]

Five winged animals were seen flying in a V-formation by J. Harrison near Manaus in 1947.[1]

George Eberhart suggests that the animals may have been large storks - such as jabirus, maguaris, or wood storks - or pelicans.[1]
