The deep-sea spider was a deep sea cryptid arachnid-like invertebrate seen once on 12 February 1989 in the South Pacific off Peru by the Disturbance and Recolonization Experiment in a Manganese Nodule Area of the Deep South Pacific (DISCOL) expedition. A scorpion-like animal resembling a whip scorpion was photographed several times at a depth of 13,616 feet. It was tentatively identified as a tailless whip scorpion, which are strictly terrestrial.[1]
