The bush dog (Wikipedia; Speothos venaticus) is a species of canid found in South and Central America.
It was first described by Danish palaeontologist Peter Wilhelm Lund in 1842, based on fossil remains discovered in Brazilian caves, and was believed to be extinct until a living pack was sighted the following year. Since then they have been discovered in several more nations and states where they were believed to have been extinct.[1]
