Other names: Big one bullocky
Country reported: Australia

The Australian camel was a cryptid reported from Australia's Northern Territory, allegedly a native species of camel reported prior to the first official importations of camels in 1840.[1]

Aborigines in the north of the country reportedly saw the occasional solitary camel, rumoured to have been brought by European settlers, perhaps as early as the 1830's.[2] The first camel officially imported to Australia came from the Canary Islands in 1840, but it is possible that a few camels were imported before this, unrecorded.[1]
