The arboreal giant anteater is a cryptid species of giant anteater reported to exist in the Amazon Rainforest by Dutch primatologist Marc van Roosmalen. It is smaller than the true giant anteater, but has a similar bushy tail, not like the prehensile tail of the tamandua. The markings on its chest, however, are more like those of a tamandua than a giant anteater. Van Roosmalen said in an interview that this and the onça-canguçú are the only animals which he lacked genetic samples of, although he seen and apparently filmed a video of the anteater.
